Pedagogy Minor
Do you feel called to work in a school setting, but are not looking to earn a teaching license? Or are you looking to develop your leadership skills and ability to work with the younger generation in church or camp?
As an education pedagogy minor at Grace, you’ll learn to teach students and fit their individual needs through managing a group of people, creating memorable lessons, fostering fruitful discussions, and forming meaningful relationships.
Grace College’s School of Education is founded on the ideology of “Teacher as a moral practitioner.” We are deeply committed to instilling the principles of character, competence, and service in our future teachers. This comes from Micah 6:8 which states, “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” Ultimately, we look to Jesus, the greatest teacher, as our guide.
This education pedagogy minor features the educational core, teaching you about the classroom setting and the diversity that students will bring with them. You’ll experience classes filled with group-based projects and rich classroom discussion, all while learning and applying the art of teaching. Then, you’ll specialize in a field such as behavioral science, educational ministries, or Biblical studies.
Education courses also provide a lot of real-world experience. In your very first teaching class, you will get the opportunity to observe and assist in a classroom for 20 hours.
Once you complete your education pedagogy minor, you will be prepared to lead people straight into the loving arms of Jesus through whichever leadership path you choose!
