I love to build meaningful connections with teacher candidates and watch them grow into confident educators. I especially enjoy watching candidates learn how to teach a child to read using evidence-based practices and then seeing the impact of that instruction firsthand. Through their clinical experiences and their work at the Center for Literacy and Learning, our candidates have the opportunity to serve elementary students, build relationships, and help them develop greater confidence as readers. Watching a child begin to believe, “I can read,” while watching a teacher candidate discover, “I can teach,” is one of the most rewarding parts of my work at Grace.
