Grace Theological Seminary in 2008 began offering two graduate degree programs online, the Master of Arts in Local Church Studies and Master of Arts in Intercultural Studies. The two graduate programs are designed for pastors, pastoral staff members, missionaries, and church or parachurch ministry leaders wanting to increase their knowledge and effectiveness through graduate study emphasizing practical ministry.
The Master of Arts in Local Church Studies degree is for those who are interested in enhancing their ministry effectiveness in the local church context. The program provides graduate-level education in Bible, theology, and practical ministry skills.
The Master of Arts in Intercultural Studies is designed to help those who are working in intercultural ministries, or wish to train to work in those ministries. A major part of ministry today, even within the United States, involves intercultural settings. The M.A. in Intercultural Studies is intended to help equip students for cross-cultural or multicultural ministry.
Both M.A. degrees are blended programs and cohort-based, offering some on-campus instruction, with online studies enabling the student to complete course work over several weeks. The degree programs enable ministry professionals and others to earn their graduate degrees without having to leave their present ministries or employment. The programs can be completed in 36 months, or shorter for those who already have appropriate graduate credits.
In addition to these two graduate degree programs from Grace Theological Seminary, Grace College is planning to offer two new graduate degrees, a Master of Science in Instructional Leadership and Master of Education in Instructional Leadership. Both of these master's degree programs currently are pending approval by the Indiana Department of Education and have a tentative start date of June 2009.
