As a political science major at Grace, you’ll dive into political history, government, and sociology, understanding how politics have evolved and shaped the globe as well as our American system.
At Grace College, we understand political science in the context of our dual citizenship as Christians. We belong to both Heaven and earthly nations, and our Kingdom-identity informs how we navigate our allegiance to earthly kingdoms. Political science, like any other field, benefits from Christians, who act as salt and light in a troubled nation.
As a political science major, you can expect multifaceted core and elective courses full of lectures, discussions, and hands-on projects and activities. To start, you’ll take foundational courses covering world history, geography, and American history and government. Whether you’re fascinated by local government, political theory, political communication and rhetoric, or global government systems, the program offers you the freedom to choose courses that match your unique interests.
You’ll have opportunities to apply what you’ve learned outside of the classroom, too. You may run for Student Senate, representing your fellow students and fostering change around campus. Political science students are also active in Mediation Club, Grace’s award-winning team that competes globally in mock conflict mediation.
We understand there’s no learning like diving into a field, so you’ll undergo an internship as part of the political science major. Students have interned in government at the state and federal level, at legal offices, and even at the Indiana Statehouse.
When you graduate with a political science degree, you’ll be equipped to operate in the political sphere with competence, wisdom, and grace. Graduates have gone on to work in local government, campaign involvement, lobbying, and law. Many also progress into law school and legal work.
