Credit Requirements

Prior to graduation from this 45 credit hour program, students need 75 credit hours accumulated through other college credit, which can include up to 24 credit hours of Experiential Learning credit. College credits must be 100 level or higher with a C- or higher from an accredited (or approved unaccredited) college.

You can receive Grace College Experiential Learning Credit for documented life experiences after high school such as workplace learning and personal activities such as music lessons, athletic involvement, and computer courses. Our team will help you discover your credit-worthy experiences and document those experiences for credit.

Students currently below 39 credit hours should complete the Associate of Science in Liberal Arts prior to this bachelor degree in Human Services Online.

For licensing in mental health counseling generally, you would need to complete a graduate-level program in counseling or therapy, fulfill supervised clinical hours, and pass a licensing exam in your state. Is the program entirely online, or are there any in-person requirements?

All courses are 100% online, designed for adult learners balancing work and family. There are no in-person requirements. Yes! Classes are offered in accelerated 5-week sessions. The student will take one course at a time in most sessions with occasionally doubling up to maintain a full-time student status.

How long does it take to complete the online Bachelor of Human Services?

Grace’s human services degree completion program can be completely finished in as little as 16 months! Most students complete the program in 16-24 months, depending on transfer credits and course load. Each course is five weeks long.

How many credit hours is this degree?

There are 15 required courses, for a total of 45 credit hours. In combination with a student’s prior credits, the complete bachelor’s degree is 120 credit hours.

How many credit hours do I need to have completed to begin the program?

Grace College accepts up to 75 transfer credits from accredited institutions, allowing you to start where you left off! Students need to have a minimum of 60 credit hours of prior college credit completed to begin the program. (If students do not have 60 prior credit hours, there are a few options for earning these credits, including up to 24 credit hours that may be earned through experiential learning. Please reach out to onlineadmissions@grace.edu for questions about transfer credit.)

Do I need a background in social services?

No, just a desire to help others. Grace will prepare you with the theory, ethics, and skills needed for the field.

What support will I have as an online student?

You’ll have a dedicated advisor, professors who care, and career services to guide your next steps. You’ll also have access to tutoring support, the Writing Lab, and Morgan Library resources. Our online instructors here at Grace welcome and encourage a high degree of engagement and interaction. There will be opportunities to interact with your instructors and classmates through chat, email, discussion boards, and forums.

What type of technology will I need to participate in an online degree program?

Students need a reliable computer or laptop, stable internet access, and basic word-processing software. All classes are delivered through Grace’s online learning platform, which is simple to use and mobile-friendly.

Does Grace College accept financial aid?

Yes! Students are encouraged to complete the FAFSA form. Just log on to www.studentaid.gov. Remember to include Grace College’s school code: 001800. Students are notified of their financial aid award money once they have been accepted into the program.

Admission Requirements

In order to be considered for enrollment in a degree completion program at Grace College, you must fulfill certain admission requirements. Below is a list of the requirements for the program.

  • 60-75 prior college credit hours (Some life and career experiences may be substituted for credit hours.)
  • Minimum GPA: 2.0
  • Complete the application process

We recommend that you apply for admission at least one month before the next entry term. Students applying after the deadline are considered on a space available basis. It is best to apply early!
