My preferred teaching style is to collaborate with students to design a customized or semi-customized learning pathway that meets the course objectives, provides foundational instruction, and empowers them to take ownership to create or enhance something that holds real value for their growth, learning, and ministry contexts. I strive to facilitate a learning experiences that enable them to invest their time in researching, studying, designing, and developing various academic and applied learning projects that align with and advance their real-time ministry needs, interests, or aspirations. Students are often very enthusiastic about this approach because they are deeply-motivated to invest their capacities into something that resonates in real-time. Not only does this provide an incredibly fruitful and unique educational experience for students, but the diversity of student projects helps to keeps both my teaching and learning fresh and compelling for me as an instructor.

The spiritual vitality of Grace’s culture is compelling. The faculty, staff, administration, and students value deep spiritual formation and a love for Christ that is informed by Scripture and relevant for engaging the world in transformative ways.

I enjoy renovation and “repurpose” projects and working with my hands (and involving my kids in household projects). I have fully renovated two homes and portions of a third over the past 14 years, and dozens of repurpose projects. I enjoy studying the intersections of ministry, theology, business, faith, work, economics, education, mission, spiritual formation, leadership, and cross-cultural learning. I also love spending time with my wife and children enjoying and exploring nature, rocking out to music, playing games, and wrestling with my children.
