Additional Program Details

What is a ministry leadership degree?

A ministry leadership degree is a program that develops an individual’s ability to lead in ministry-oriented organizations. This program is a great fit for those who are currently serving or seeking to serve in ministry: pastors, youth leaders, worship directors, or lay leaders who want formal training and a biblical foundation.

What can you do with a ministry degree?

Graduates serve as pastors, ministry directors, missionaries, nonprofit leaders, and church administrators, among a variety of other career fields.

How long does it take to earn an online ministry degree?

The ministry leadership program can be completed in as little as two years! This is a degree-completion program designed for students with previous coursework or an associate degree. There are 20 required courses, for a total of 60 credit hours. In combination with a student’s prior credits, the complete bachelor’s degree is 120 credit hours.

How many credit hours do I need to have completed to begin the online ministry leadership program?

Students need to have 60 credit hours of prior college credit completed to begin the program. (If students do not have 60 prior credit hours, there are a few options for earning this credit, including 24 credit hours that may be earned through experiential learning. For more information about transfer credits, please contact onlineadmissions@grace.edu.)

How is the program structured?

Courses are offered in 8-week terms. Students will take two classes during each eight-week session for steady progress and balance with ministry life.

What will I learn in a Bachelor of Ministry Leadership program?

In this program, you will build a strong biblical foundation, engage in leadership skills rooted in Scripture, and learn to lead like Christ through humility, love, and accountability. Courses emphasize servant leadership, spiritual formation, and the responsibility of representing God in all areas of influence.

Is this degree focused more on theology or practical leadership?

The degree balances both: it is taught from a biblical worldview (theological foundation) and also emphasizes practical leadership skills applied in ministry contexts: servant leadership, spiritual formation, leadership responsibilities, and real-world ministry roles are all part of it.

Will this degree prepare me for pastoral or church leadership roles?

Yes! The program is explicitly designed to prepare students for roles in ministry and church leadership, such as pastor, children’s ministry director, missionary, or outreach coordinator.

Can I use this degree for missions, nonprofit, or community leadership?

Yes. While the program is ministry-focused, the leadership and biblical foundation it provides are well-suited for work in missions, nonprofit organizations, community outreach, and other servant-leadership contexts.

How does this degree prepare me for full-time ministry?

By equipping you with both the theological understanding and leadership skills needed in ministry settings, and preparing you for roles with real ministry responsibilities (pastor, missionary, outreach, etc.), this degree readies you for full-time ministry. The program’s emphasis on servant leadership, spiritual formation, and representing God in influence supports that preparation.

What’s the difference between this and a seminary degree?

The ministry leadership program is an undergraduate degree focused on practical leadership and ministry application, not ordination-level theology.

Is this degree accredited?

Yes! Grace College is regionally accredited, and your degree carries full academic and professional credibility.

Can I stay in full-time ministry while completing this degree?

Yes! The flexible online format allows you to continue serving while studying at your own pace.

What type of technology will I need to participate in an online degree program?

Students need a reliable computer or laptop, stable internet access, and basic word-processing software. All classes are delivered through Grace’s online learning platform, which is simple to use and mobile-friendly.

How do I communicate with faculty and academic advisors?

Online instructors at Grace encourage a high degree of engagement and interaction. You’ll have opportunities to interact with instructors and classmates via email, discussion boards, and forums. You’ll have a dedicated advisor, professors who care, and career services to guide your next steps. You’ll also have access to tutoring support, the Writing Lab, and Morgan Library resources.

Does Grace College accept financial aid?

Yes! Students are encouraged to complete the FAFSA form. Just log on to www.studentaid.gov. Remember to include Grace College’s school code: 001800. Students are notified of their financial aid award money once they have been accepted into the program.

Regardless of your path to ministry, Grace College is a school that you can trust with your ministry training and spiritual community.
