Making God the center of your education doesn’t distract from academics, it gives purpose to it.
One of the absolute best things about Christian college is the way that your highly intelligent and skilled professors model the work ethic they teach. With a wealth of knowledge and practical experience in their field, they are even more committed to serving God in that field. These individuals are passionate about helping you marry your scholarship with your discipleship. They will help you develop insight and perspective in your classes, and prepare you for your future career. Your worldview will be transformed through these experiences and when you graduate, you will go forward with confidence.
Take Dr. Roger Stichter, our accounting professor, for example. Before the calculators ever come out or the powerpoint projects on the screen, he takes time to lead his class in devotions. (He compiled these in a book!) He instills in his students the power of integrity on the job as they deal with numbers, and teaches them to be good stewards of money as he talks about in his second book, The Principle of Maximums.
And let us tell you about Dr. Nate Bosch, professor of environmental science and director of the Lilly Center for Lakes and Streams. Dr. Bosch specializes in lakes, streams, wetlands, prairies, and many other ecosystems and forms of life in creation. His studies allow him to spend ample time in God’s creation, and he leads his students to see that studying the creation teaches us more about the Creator himself.
This just isn’t the kind of instruction found at large public state schools.
