Grace College will welcome acclaimed singer-songwriters Skye Peterson and Joel Ansett — two distinctive voices in contemporary Christian music — to Rodeheaver Auditorium on Saturday, Oct. 3. The concert, titled “An Evening of Songs & Stories,” will be an experience featuring beautiful music, contemplative worship and connection. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., and the music will begin at 8 p.m. The concert costs $10 and is open to Grace students, staff and faculty, as well as the public.
“I am overjoyed to bring this double-headliner concert to the Grace College and Winona Lake community,” said Emily Brennaman, director of Student Involvement at Grace College. “Joel Ansett is a gifted lyricist who expertly weaves metaphors and melodies to speak deeply into the experience of walking with God. I’ve personally listened to his Layers album on repeat throughout a really difficult part of my journey. Likewise, I’ve heard Skye is a gifted songwriter who is contributing generously to the growing hymnal of spiritual songs. This night will be a beautiful experience.”
Ansett is known for his folk-and-soul sound and searching, honest songwriting. Ansett got his start in 2014 and has since found fans across the country, with more than 13 million streams online, a song placed in Marvel’s “The Punisher,” and his debut album “The Nature of Us” landing at #9 on the iTunes singer/songwriter chart. Ansett followed his debut LP with his 2019 release of “A Place I Knew Before,” and most recently released his album, “Layers,” in 2023.
Meanwhile, Peterson’s music has been described as reading like a journal entry, full of questions, stories and quiet wonder. She released her first album, “Where The Winter Was,” in 2023 after studying theology in England and Kentucky. Splitting her time between touring and writing hymns for Getty Music, Skye also finished recording her second album, “All The Difference,” which was voted “Best Christian Album” by The Gospel Coalition. During that time, her hymn “I Am Not My Own” was nominated for a Dove award. Her latest record, “Through Line,” was released this year on May 29.
Together, the artists will share not only their songs but also the stories and moments that shaped them.
