Grace College to Host 33rd Annual FunFest

Grace College will host its 33rd annual FunFest on Friday, Oct. 27 from 6 – 8 p.m. in the Gordon Health and Wellness Center, 100 Publishers Dr., Winona Lake. FunFest is free and open to all children and their families. This year’s theme is outer space. Children are invited to dress-up for the theme or in a costume of their choosing.

“FunFest offers a safe, fun, family-friendly evening that’s not contingent on fickle Indiana weather,” said Alicia Meyer, Director of Student Involvement at Grace. “Everyone can have a fun evening in costume, playing games with family and friends in a warm, well-lit fieldhouse.”

FunFest is coordinated by Serve, Grace’s student-led ministry. Student volunteers will run carnival-style games, will provide face painting and will hand out prizes and candy.

Originating in 1989, FunFest was first organized by Grace student Jennifer Anderson, who was an officer of what was called “Grace Ministries in Action” (GMA) at the time. The 1989 event was held in McClain Hall, but as the event has grown, it has moved locations to accommodate as many as 2,500 attendees from the Warsaw/Winona Lake community.

This year, Meyer estimates that 60 students from Grace will volunteer their time to host 800 visitors for the evening.

“This is an event where the Grace Serve team, along with its many volunteer members, are able to connect with families and individuals outside of what we call the ‘Grace bubble,’” said Faith Hergenrather, a student Serve officer. “Ultimately, it is our goal to share the kindness of Christ with our greater community.”
