When reading this fact, it may come to your mind that the town is a small farming town in the middle of nowhere. But in fact, it is a picturesque lakeside town with plenty of activities for the weekends.

Welcome to one of Indiana’s treasures: the combined community of Warsaw and Winona Lake. Here, your passions matter. It’s important that you can do what you love: learn, work and play in a safe and beautiful setting.  That’s why there’s an extensive breadth of activities for you to choose from.

Things to Do and Places to Go

Biking and Walking/Running Trails: Whether you like mountain, road, or paved path biking, we have it all accessible right here from campus! Across the road from campus is nearly 10 miles of single-track mountain bike/running trails. If you prefer a leisurely bike ride, start your trek on the 5.5+ miles of paved Greenway Paths which directly connect our campus to the community. Finally, if you enjoy road biking, there are 180 miles of marked bikeways throughout our county.

Fishing & Lakes: There are numerous lakes, ponds, and rivers on which to fish. In particular, there are a couple of lakes (Webster, Lake Tippecanoe & James, and the Barbee Chain) that have excellent world-class muskie fishing opportunities. The state record Muskellunge, 42lbs 8oz,  was caught in Lake James! We are proud of our lakes! The Lilly Center for Lakes & Streams at Grace College takes care of the lakes and streams in Kosciusko County. Golfing:  Grace College has wonderful golf teams and you have the opportunity to use several great courses in our community: Stonehenge Golf Club, Rozella Ford Golf Course, and Raccoon Run Golf Course.

Water Skiing, Tubing, Paddleboarding, Kayaking, Canoeing, etc.: The Grace College Campus is within a half mile of Winona Lake, and near Lake Wawasee, and Tippy Lake. All of these lakes provide endless hours of on-the-water fun. There are rental spots too that offer rentals for paddleboarding or kayaking. Try out the Lake House to rent one today!

Restaurants: Boathouse, Cerulean, Orthocity BBQ, Noa Noa Wood Grill & Sushi Bar, Ruby Tuesday, Applebee’s Grill + Bar, 110 Craft Meatery , Bella Vitale Italian Eatery, The Garden, La Troje, Creighton’s Crazy Egg Cafe, etc. Warsaw and Winona Lake have a great mix of chain restaurants and unique eateries. Some of these are located just down the hill at the Village at Winona! And don’t worry – with Starbucks, Light Rail Cafe & Coffee Roasters, Latte Lounge, Wire & Steam, Three Crowns Coffee, and Kelainey’s, you will not be without coffee or tea for your late night study sessions.

Art & History: We are definitely not starved of the arts! Warsaw and Winona Lake boast 11 performing arts centers including the Wagon Wheel Theater. Wagon Wheel brings broadway-quality shows to town and the best part – it is a theater-in-the-round, which provides a unique and intimate feeling to large audiences. For history buffs, the town of Winona Lake is historically rich, being the home of renowned evangelist Billy Sunday. Winona Lake was once a place of relaxation, tent revivals, and summer tourism. Shopping: For those of you who like shopping or strolling through stores, Warsaw and Winona Lake have something for everyone. Walk down the hill from campus and you will find the Village at Winona, with specialized shops. Come here to find great gifts, fitness goods, cooking supplies, hand-made items that you are sure to love. We also have a great consignment shop in town – Home Sweet Home, along with the classics – TJ Maxx, Kohl’s, Walmart, Carsons, Maurices, etc. Don’t forget the great boutiques in downtown Warsaw!

Other: We also have a bowling alley, movie theater, two local stables for horse lovers, plenty of parks & recreation and so much more!

Popular Community Events

Art Fairs: Celebrating 18 years, the annual Art Fair is one of Winona Lake’s most popular events!

The Northern Indiana Lakes Festival is approaching its tenth year of offering free and educational fun to residents and visitors of Kosciusko County.

Sporting Events: Our community hosts the Fat and Skinny Tire Fest, one of the largest cycling (Road & Criterium, BMX & OMNIUM, Time Trial, and Mountain Bike racing) events in the Midwest.

Now starting it’s 25th race, the Optimist Triathlon is a non-profit race that brings in over 600 racers from the Midwest and is hosted next to our campus.

For the very adventurous, there is the Ultimate Challenger race (Obstacle Course + Crossfit + Off-Road Mountain Biking + Trail Run) or if you prefer a more laid-back type of race, there are family friendly Lakes Festival events (5k, Kayak & Canoe races, Spikeball tournaments, and Crossfit Murph competitions)

The Lake City Skiers Water Ski Show Team hosts amazing events including extreme jump acts, an all-girl ballet line, barefoot water skiing, swivel skiing, doubles routines and human pyramids, just to name a few.

Area Businesses: Warsaw is the Orthopaedic Capital of the World with companies such as DePuy (a Johnson & Johnson Company), Medtronic, Paragon Medical, and Zimmer Biomet, but don’t forget the other wonderful businesses in our community as well.
