Grace Campus Store Supports ‘OnMission’ Clothing Brand
If you are a student or alumni of Grace College, you are likely familiar with our campus store, recently relocated to the Gordon Recreation Center. But, while you are shopping for your Grace College wardrobe, you may not be familiar with who you are supporting every time you buy a Grace t-shirt or hoodie. Our campus store is managed by Tree of Life Bookstores, and they have announced the successful launch of a clothing brand, OnMission. The following is more detailed information about the program provided by Tree of Life Bookstores:
The OnMission clothing brand is a vision of Tree of Life Bookstores Founder and CEO, Darren Campbell. OnMission was launched to fill a void in the marketplace for garments that make a difference but remain affordable. The name, OnMission, was conceived from one of Darren Campbell’s favorite authors, C.S. Lewis:
“Every encounter I have with an individual, I have the opportunity to bring them closer, or farther away from Jesus Christ.” Darren Campbell expands further on the naming of the brand, “With that idea in mind daily, we are all missionaries. We are all OnMission!”
OnMission purchases their fabric from cotton mills located in the United States. However, where OnMission earns its name, is by supporting a mission in Haiti that is dedicated to training, empowering, and employing adults that have transitioned out of the orphanage system. OnMission’s fabric is sewn into garments by these individuals who are taught a vocational skill and paid beyond a living wage. All finished garments are then decorated in the United States.
“OnMission was created to enrich the lives of others, while giving our customers something they can feel great wearing,” says Jennifer Barker, Tree of Life Bookstores Director of General Merchandise. “Our goal and mission as a company is to never sit idle, but to fill voids where we see gaps; OnMission fills one of those gaps.”
Our own campus store manager, Sarah Fredericks, loves this partnership:
“We enjoy telling the story of OnMission to our customers, and the direct impact it has on its participants. We love to support such a worthy cause, and we’ve had a great response from students.”
Grace College students are well-known for serving and supporting others around the world, and you can do just that simply by shopping our campus store!
