Soccer Rules:
- All rules of play follow the FIFA standard except for the following:
- 2–20 minute running halves
- No sliding/ slide tackling of any kind around players (must stay on feet) If no one is around it is permissible to slide to save a ball from going out of bounds
- Throw ins: must completely come from an over the head motion with both hands and the person’s feet must stay in contact with the ground until released.
- All penalties are direct kicks
- The goalkeepers are the only people allowed to use their hands during the game if they are with in the penalty box.
- Over aggressive play deemed by the ref will result in a penalty
- All penalty and decision regarding rules of play are determined by the refs
- If you are ejected you must sit out of all games until the player sets up a meeting with the GIP Director and a GIP staf member. It is the player’s responsibility to initiate the meeting
Volleyball Rules:
Only 6 players are allowed on the court at a time on each side.
- Score is up to 30 on the first 2 sets and then 15 on the last set.
- Must win by 2.
- On the last set the max amount of points is 18
- Serves cannot be attacked on the return.
- Maximum of 3 hits per side.
- Player cannot hit the ball twice in a row.
- Ball may be played off the net.
- A ball touching the boundary line is still in.
- Any hit must go over the net to count.
- Carrying, palming, and throwing is illegal.
- Touching the net when the ball is being played is illegal.
- Reaching over the net is illegal except
- When following through a hit.
- When blocking a ball when it is being returned over the net.
- When it is the third hit.
- Any back row player that jumps in front of the front line to spike it is illegal.
- If the ball hits the middle beam above the net, then the ball is dead.
- If the ball hits the ceiling on a first or second hit, it is legal but if it hits the ceiling and goes to the other side of the net it is dead.
- If the ball hits any other obstacle (beams, basketball hoop, etc.) then the ball is dead.
Basketball Rules:
- 2–20 minute running halves
- 6 fouls and you foul out
- Anything behind the arc is worth 3 points, anything inside of it is worth 2 points, and free throws are worth 1 point
- The officials will be trained and approved by the GIP staff.
- The 2 officials will call any fouls that occur throughout the game.
- If a player is ejected from a game the player may not participate in another game until he/she schedules a meeting with a Gip staff member and the Gip director and is approved to return to action.
- Foul language/ cursing/ poor sportsmanship and over aggressive play will not be tolerated
Dodgeball Rules:
Teams
- 5 man teams - one participant must be female
- Teams of 6-8 must have 2 females
Playing Rules
- One match will be 2 out of 3 rounds—maximum of 5 minutes each round
- One female and one male must be on the floor to start
- Outing is an honor system
- The official’s decision is final
- Complaining results in the complainer or an additional player being outed
- Balls must be thrown
- A caught ball means the thrower is out
- A hit participant below the neck is out
- A hit to the head of a standing participant—participant is not out
- Once the ball hits the ground it’s dead and can not out anyone
- Crossing the center line—out
- Deflecting a thrown ball with a ball in your hand is clean—if you drop your ball—out
- A deflected ball that hits your teammate—teammate is out
- Multiple contacts in one throw—all are out
- Entrance to the court is only allowed through the back line
- Out people must stand outside the sidelines in order of outing
- A caught ball bring the first outed participant back in
- When a team is down to one man and they catch a ball the whole team can
- If the first 2 games are split—each team must designate a joker—if the joker is outed—game over
