JOURNALISM JOB FAIR FRANKLIN, IN
The annual Journalism Job Fair of the Indiana Associated Press Managing Editors and the Hoosier State Press Association Foundation will be held at Franklin College, Franklin, Ind. The Job Fair is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009, in the Branigin Room of the Napolitan Student Center. This advisory serves as early notice so students may start making plans to attend. A list of the participating newspapers will be sent out the last week of November. Editors will conduct 15-minute interviews with journalism students seeking regular employment or internships. Information on the 2009 HSPA Foundation Eugene S. Pulliam Internship Program also will be available at the fair. Students will be able to schedule interviews AFTER DEC. 5, by e-mailing Phyllis McQueen at pmcqueen@ap.org . Please state requested newspapers and any special scheduling needs and a confirmation will be returned. Interviews will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. However, seniors will be given preference during the first two weeks of scheduling. When e-mailing, please state class standing. This is a free event. BROADCAST JOURNALISM SCHOOL ARLINGTON, VA
The Leadership Institute (LI) trains students to be effective future leaders in politics and the media. LI currently offers 44 different training opportunities. One such training is our very popular Broadcast Journalism School which will be held on November 8-9 at the Steven P.J. Wood Building in Arlington, VA. Through this two-day seminar, LI seeks to bring balance to the media by training and nurturing young individuals and helping them grow into responsible, boadcast journalists who report the news uncolored by bias. The seminar will help students explore what it takes to build a sccuessful career. With topics such as Rules of the Resume, Finding a Job, Bias Battle, and Media and Ethics this seminar will benefit anyone interested in politics and media. After completion students can apply for grants up to $3000 to fund an internship at a news station. For more information or to register please visit:
WOODROW WILSON INDIANA TEACHING FELLOWSHIP INDIANA
Funded by the Lilly Endowment and supported by the governor and state education leaders, the initiative will provide $30,000 stipends to outstanding college graduates and career changers in science, technology, engineering, and math to complete an intensive master's program at one of four participating Indiana universities with high-quality teacher preparation programs. In return, the Fellow will commit to teaching for three years in a high-need secondary urban or rural school in Indiana. The Fellowship application will be available online this summer, with a submission deadline of December 1, 2008. The first class of Fellows will be selected by March 1, 2009.
