Jackson’s 30-point Outburst Fuels Homecoming Victory

Senior guard Juaneice Jackson dazzled her way to 30 points with a trio of 3-pointers to lead Grace’s women’s basketball team to a 84-63 victory over Trinity Christian on Saturday.

Jackson made 11-of-16 from the floor to go along with 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals in an impressive performance. Jackson is now averaging 22.0 ppg through the first three outings. Saturday’s game marked the third time she has reached 30 points in her career.

The Lady Lancers (2-1) led from start-to-finish on Homecoming Saturday. They held a 34-27 advantage midway into the first half, and a 12-2 spurt lifted Grace to a 14-point halftime cushion. Jackson and Allison Kauffman scored five points apiece during their 12-2 run.

Grace did significant damage to Trinity Christian’s efforts at the free throw line in the second half. The Lady Lancers earned 24 trips to the charity stripe, knocking down 71 percent of their attempts. Kauffman made 8-of-10 from the free throw line herself in the second half.

The Trolls (0-2) staged a comeback with 12 minutes left in regulation. They buried three 3-pointers over a three-minute span to cut Grace’s lead down to 64-56 with 9:38 to play.

But the Lady Lancers scored on their next possession and never allowed their advantage to slip into single digits again.

As a team, Grace outrebounded Trinity Christian by 16. The Trolls also committed 23 turnovers and shot 35 percent from the floor. The Lady Lancers made 47 percent of their shots.

Allison Kauffman finished with a double-double of 24 points and 11 rebounds. Sarah Feasby was a perfect 5-of-5 from the floor for 13 points, also collecting 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. Gabby Bryant finished with six points and four rebounds, and JoEllen Fickel had four points and six rebounds.
