Assistant Pastor – Bethel Bible Church, Winamac IN

Summary
The purpose of the Assistant Pastor is to aid the Senior Pastor in equipping our people for the work of
ministry so that the body of Christ at Bethel Bible Church and around the world may be built up.

Qualifications
1. A growing, mature believer in the Lord Jesus Christ who meets the qualifications of elder as
outlined in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.
2. In agreement with the Constitution and By-Laws, and the philosophy of ministry of BBC
3. Has pastoral gifts, a pastoral calling, and a pastoral commitment; convinced that:
a. He has been given by the Holy Spirit the gift of pastor-teacher
b. He has been called by God vocationally to the pastoral ministry
c. Has had his pastor-teacher gift confirmed corporately by a local body of believers
d. Has a deep love and concern for people: genuinely committed to giving himself to
meeting the needs of others
4. Has a team concept of ministry and leadership; communicates well and works well with others
5. Adequate organizational abilities
6. Adequate visitation abilities
7. Adequate counseling abilities
8. Adequate leadership abilities
9. Has a sound work ethic

Responsibilities
The Assistant Pastor at Bethel Bible Church shall perform the following tasks:
1. Coordinate and lead the Jr/Sr High Youth Ministry
2. Administrate the Christian Education (CE) Committee
3. Give oversight to the leaders of the children’s ministry program (oversee the Director of
Children’s Ministry).
4. Organize domestic and international missions trips with Missions Committee and Council
approval
5. Assist the Senior Pastor in administrative tasks, allowing him to focus on preaching, teaching,
prayer, and counseling
6. Work on special projects as requested by the Senior Pastor, Elders, or Deacons
7. Maintain the church web site (www.bethelbiblechurch.org)
8. Coordinate the music ministry, including managing worship teams
9. Oversee the technical support of church computers and equipment

Senior Pastor – Directly
Elders – Indirectly

Notes
By constitution, the Assistant Pastor will be a member of the Board of Elders and a member of the
Church Council. He will be subject to an annual review by the review committee elected at the January
congregational meeting.
