JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: SENIOR PASTOR
PRINCIPAL FUNCTION: The Senior Pastor is responsible to the church for providing spiritual and administrative leadership to the members of the Stelvideo Christian Church; and is to use his skills in proclamation, administering sacraments, stewardship and pastoral care to meet the needs of persons in the church and outreach to the community.
SUPERVISION: The Senior Pastor serves under the supervision of the Church Deacons. The Senior Pastor is subject to an annual church membership vote to maintain his position.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide Spiritual Leadership
Preach the Gospel, lead worship services, ordinances, sacraments, funerals and weddings
Lead members to so trust and love God that they desire to serve Him
Lead the members to love one another and their neighbors
Encourage stewardship, outreach into the community and world missions support
2. Pastoral Responsibilities
To provide pastoral care by assisting the Deacons in conjunction with other staff and care-givers through visitation, counseling, and prayer
To make appropriate referrals when necessary and quickly respond to crisis situations which arise in the congregation
To assist the Church Leadership in the Christian Education of the youth and adults in the Christian education of the congregation
3. Provide Outreach Leadership
Train, organize and lead members to do visitation of and witnessing to unchurched persons
Set example in cultivating unchurched persons
Lead church in planning regular outreach/revival emphasis
4. Provide Administrative Leadership
Lead church in participation within the Mid-West Fellowship Congregational Christian Churches
Lead church to develop basic church programs
Lead church to elect needed workers
Lead church to train officers and workers
Lead church to plan monthly/annual calendar
Lead church to develop policies that would help members participate in an orderly manner Supervise church employee according to church policy and bi-laws
5. Stewardship
To work with the Deacons to promote, educate, and advocate responsible biblical stewardship in the congregation
To assist the Deacons and Treasurer and Secretary in the financial affairs of the church
6. General Pastoral Responsibilities
To provide pastoral care by assisting the Deacons in conjunction with other staff and care-givers through visitation, counseling, and prayer

To assist the Church Leadership in the Christian Education of the youth and adult in the Christian education of the congregation
QUALIFICATIONS:
All candidates require approval by the Mid-West Fellowship Congregational Christian Churches Credentials Committee
A theology degree and seminary or advanced degrees (Masters or Doctorate) is a plus
One to five years of practical training and experience or being mentored by a senior pastor of a church is also highly preferred
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The position of Senior Pastor requires great flexibility in hours available for work, including evenings and weekends. The Pastor should be available and accessible to members of the congregation and for regular communication with members of the church staff and leadership
Salary Range: $10,000 – $20,000 (depending on experience)
