Director of Student Ministries – Mogadore Baptist Church, Akron OH
This full-time Director of Student Ministries will be a salaried position. The salary will be determined by the leadership board of the church. The Director of Student Ministries is directly responsible to the senior pastor. Mogadore Baptist Church is located on the east side of Akron, OH.
SUMMARY:
The Director of Student Ministries will be directly involved with the middle school and high school ministries of the church. He will also be involved with the AWANA program as an advisor to the AWANA commander and to the Sunday school program of the church as an advisor to the Sunday school superintendent. The ability to lead worship is a plus but not a requirement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1) He should demonstrate Christian character and servant leadership in accordance with I Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9 and I Peter 5:1-4.
2) He should possess a degree in Bible or other related field or have experience in youth ministry.
3) He should be committed to personal spiritual growth and have a teachable spirit.
4) He should be a self-starter and highly motivated to work with youth.
5) He should be willing to help provide vision for our church.
6) He should have a passion for youth, understand the youth culture and possess strong verbal and communication skills, be a good role model, and be a team player.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Coordinate the middle school and high school programs for Sunday and Wednesday, being the lead teacher.
2) Recruit, enlist and oversee needed adult volunteers to staff the student ministry of the church, providing training and ministry to them as needed.
3) Plan and direct Bible studies, mission trips, camp weeks and activities for our youth.
4) Lead the summer VBS program.
5) Involve students in the ministry of the church, supporting and participating the church’s vision, worship services and activities.
6) Visit students and pray for students when they are absent, hospitalized or facing difficult issues.
7) Develop leadership skills in the youth.
8) Build and maintain relationships with kids both churched and un-churched.
9) Build and maintain relationships with parents of youth.
10) Network with other youth workers in the community.
11) Communicate with the senior pastor and the congregation.
12) Prepare the youth budget.
Mogadore Baptist Church is a missional church that exists to worship Jesus Christ and teach the members to be effective witnesses in the world.
