What it Means to be a Christian College: Our Covenant of Faith

Our Belief as a Christian College

Grace College and Theological Seminary is a Christian college affiliated with the Charis Fellowship, formerly known as the Fellowship of the Grace Brethren. Charis is a network of churches, colleges, and affiliated organizations that communicate and work together to spread the Gospel. The good news is, you do not have to come from the Brethren denomination for Grace to be the right place for you! We have students from many different backgrounds that are united under core doctrinal beliefs straight from Scripture.

The tenets of our faith can be boiled down to…

  1. Truth: the Bible is our ultimate authority
  2. Relationship: the Church is meant to provide support and care
  3. Mission: the Great Commission can only be accomplished by working together

As a Christian college, our Covenant of Faith influences everything we do, and we strive to learn, apply, and practice our beliefs in the context of community.

All of our campus activities are supported by our core values, which come directly from the Truth of God’s Word. We want all of our students to be Engaged, Selfless, Thriving, and Authentic.

Engaged

We engage with the world around us through participation in events and organizations that glorify God. Christian colleges develop students who are good stewards of their resources and value service.

Colossians 3:23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.

Selfless

We value other people by stepping into their world to serve and walk alongside them in their lives as image-bearers of God. Christian colleges develop students who desire authentic community.

Ephesians 4:2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.

Thriving

Our students thrive in our individual relationships with God and with the Church. Christian colleges develop students who value the transforming power of a relationship with God.

2 Corinthians 3:18 And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

Authentic

We want to live lives that are Christ-like in every single way. Christian colleges develop students who view their whole lives as an opportunity to bring glory to God.

Colossians 1:16-17 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
