Meredith Morgan traveled to some new places and revisited some familiar places.
She made new friends and had some great adventures. Thanks to all who took Meredith
with them on Spring Break. Here's the winners for 2010, followed by some of the other
interesting entries.
First Place Winner
First Place Overall prize goes to Faith Olson who took Meredith to Dracula's Castle in Romania
where she was transformed, as you will see in the picture.
Second Place Winner
Rebekah Kesler is the Second Place winner with her submission of Meredith visiting the Phipps Conservatory in Pittsburgh.
Best at a Foreign Location
It seems that Meredith really enjoyed her trip to Romania because the Best at a Foreign Location entry was taken inside the Peles Castle in Romania. This 17th century castle is located in the Carpathian Mountains and had many modern day amenities when it was built -- like central heating, electricity, and a central vacuum cleaning system. Julie Shearer submitted an entry that showed real school spirit -- Go Lancers!

Best at a Home Town Location
Meredith's favorite spot to visit was the Cuyahoga waterfall that she and Kylee Barnett found back home in Ohio. Kylee wrote that the snow was just melting and left this beautiful waterfall where they stopped to pose for this picture. They had a good hiking by the falls.
Best at a U.S. Landmark
Caleb Noble took Meredith to San Antonio and introduced her to the Alamo. I am quite sure that after her visit there, she will always "Remember the Alamo" as the saying goes.

Most Unusual Location
For the first time ever, Meredith was able to see the Loch Ness Monster when she traveled to Scotland with Amy Keith. Many believe that the legendary monster known as Nessie is a myth, but after this sighting, Meredith is a believer.
Best with an Animal
MariJean Wegert and Meredith had a lot of fun with MariJean's dog, Gabby. Meredith and Gabby went for a run, which was rather taxing on Gabby, who promptly took a nap. Meredith, on the other hand, looks no worse for the wear.

Best Costume for Meredith
Meredith has been given some creative costumes in the past and this year Cheryl Spencer submitted entries of Meredith dressed to go to the theater to see Alice in Wonderland. Cheryl claims that Meredith couldn't watch the scene where Alice battles the Jabberwocky. Meredith liked her costume so much that she kept it on while helping Cheryl make sushi.

Further Travels of Meredith
Meredith enjoyed many other adventures during Spring Break. She visited the Dominican Republic with Taylor Fervida and a Grace Go Team. Where's Meredith? (She really is in the picture.)
While in Romania, Meredith visited the Peles Castle (mentioned above). This is the exterior of the castle.

She also visited the People's Palace which is the home of the Romanian Parliament and Senate. It consists of 600 rooms and took 20,200 workers over 20 years to construct.
While in Romania, Meredith traveled to Bran and toured Bran Castle (aka Dracula's Castle) where she sat with her friend Faith on Dracula's bed. It is believed that he slept in this bed when he visited this castle.
MEREDITH'S TRAVELS IN THE U.S.
Meredith had a great time in Colorado with Elicia Walter and had the opportunity to see some great sites while there. She went to the Air Force Academy and saw the famous chapel.
She also went to the headquarters of Compassion International and had the chance to enjoy the statues there.
She also visited the Olympic Training Center. Elicia claims that Meredith won a Gold Medal -- for globe trotting? Is that an official olympic sport?
Meredith had the experience of assisting with preparing food for Asian feast night with Xander Marton. Here she is chopping citrus fruit for stir-fry.
While at the Phipps Conservatory in Pittsburgh with Rebekah Kesler, Meredith posed with one of her favorite plants.
Meredith has had some close encounters with animals over the years, but this encounter scared her a bit. She was standing right next to a tank at the Shedd Acquarium in Chicago, when a big fish came so close, Meredith feared for her life. Fortunately, she survived that scary experience with the help of Samantha Phenix.
The Morgan Library Staff wants to thank all who participated in the Meredith Morgan Spring Break contest. We enjoyed seeing the entries and hope you all had a good time too.
