(4/12/08) Indianapolis, Ind.-The Indiana Little State Track Championships provided another year of bad weather on both Friday and Saturday resulting in slow times and tough conditions for all competitors. On Friday Kristin Hawkins overcame the 30 mile an hour wind gusts to place fourth in the 10,000. MaryJean Wegert qualified for the finals of the 800 where on Saturday she finished 7th. Friday also saw Kirah Fifield qualify for the 100h finals and place 9th on Saturday improving her school record time to 16.10.

Amy Misak set a new standard for toughness as she became the first women at Grace College to compete in the 3000 steeplechase. Running the steeplechase is tough enough, Amy actually completed the race after getting badly spiked on the first water jump. She finished the final 6+ laps with a lacerated left ankle that would take 19 stitches to close after the race. Her time of 13:09.05 was good for 21st and sets the school standard for her and others to break.

For the throwers, Caryn Britton had the best weekend setting PR's in the discus and hammer throw, while Rebecca Lambright throw an NCCAA qualifying distance in the shot put. For the men, Michael Jennys competed in the 10,000 and Zach Schaefer competed in the 400h.

The men and women compete next Saturday, April 19, in the Spartan Classic at Manchester College. Field events start at 11 a.m. and running events at noon.
