NCCAA OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

(5/4/08)Marion, Ind.-The Grace College women’s track team’s theme of “Bad Weather, Good Performances” continued at the NCCAA Outdoor Track National Championships. The three distance women each scored in their specialty. MariJean Wegert just missed All-American honors placing 4’th in the 800. Amy Misak and Kristin Hawkins each scored a 6’th place finish in the 3000 steeplechase and 10,000m respectively. In the throws Rebekah Lambright scored 6’th in the shot put and then followed that by breaking her own school record in the hammer with a toss of 135’ 8” finishing 8’th. Tara Drew through a PR in the javelin to place 8’th and finish the scoring places for the Lady Lancers. All the competitors produced good results. Samantha Bergsma and Caryn Britton both threw strong in the hammer with Caryn getting a new PR and Samantha just missing hers. Joscelyn Buford (100) and Kirah Fifield (100h) both just missed qualifying for finals in the specialties. Kiera Gray placed 9’th in the high jump and Tara Drew placed the same in the 400h. With Rebekah Lambright being the only senior, the women’s track team look to go to even higher levels next year. They have shown they are competitive in a variety of events and perform well under adverse conditions. Congratulations to all of them for a great season.
