Grace Sets School Records At Taylor Invitational Meet

Upland, Ind--The Grace women's track team continued their strong indoor performances with six school records at the Taylor Invitational. The meet consisted of 12 teams including all MCC teams.

Kristin Hawkins started the record run with an 11:25.90 placing 9th in the 3000. Kirah Fifield followed with a 8.92, 2nd place finish in the 55m hurdles. Jocelyn Buford set school records with a 7.67, 3rd place finish in the 55m dash and a 28.01, 200m that tied for 9th MariJean Wegert smashed the school record in the 600m run by 14 seconds placing 2nd with a time of 1:43.45. The women ended the day with a 2nd place finish and school record in the distance medley relay. Amy Misak, Heather Vaughn, MariJean Wegert and Kristin Hawkins combined to break the old record by 20 seconds with a final time of 13:44.24. Heather Vaughn also had a strong performance with a 7th place finish in the 400 with a time of 1:05.97.

"I was proud of how the team competed against strong competition," said head coach Neal Butler. "They compete with an aggressive determination that is fun to watch and a joy to coach. I expect to see continued improvement over the remainder of the season."

The women's next competition is at Anderson College on Sat. Feb. 9.
