 Women's
Tennis Coach Deron Datzman
WINONA LAKE, IN - Deron Datzman begins his second season as the head coach
of the women's tennis program.
A 1991 Grace graduate, Datzman led the Lancers to their best season in program
history. Grace finished the season with their first ever winning season at 6-5
and placed fifth in the Mid-Central Conference with a program best 4-4 record.
Datzman played four years of men's tennis at Grace and has given private lessons
since that time.
"It has always been a dream of mine to do some coaching," Datzman said. "As
well, I really want to have an impact in the lives of students and those two
factors influenced my desire for this position."
The women's tennis program has shown improvement over the past five years,
building from 20 consecutive MCC losses over a three year stretch from 1999-01.
The squad went 1-6 in conference in 2002, 2-5 in 2003 and 3-5 in 2004 and 2005
and 4-4 in 2006.
