Lady Lancers Begin to Come Together
PENSACOLA, Fla (3/5/08) - The Grace College Softball team is making the most of their time in Florida as they have experimented with position changes and personnel adjustments. The ladies took on Carl Sandburg College Wednesday and lost 4-1 in a tight game. Grace moved a few players around while experimenting with both new infielders and a catcher.
Freshman Hilary Kiser got the Lancers off to a good start with the first hit for team and senior Rachel Steinmeyer added two doubles. Senior Brittany Dickman also had a solid outing as she connected on two singles on the game. In the second game of the day Grace took on Evangel University and held strong for the first five innings before Evangel would pull away winning 8-3. Kiser once again got things going with two singles on the day and Melinda Creek reached base twice on base on balls. Senior Rachel Steinmeyer knocked two more singles in the game as Autumn Weaver and Virginia Myers both reached base on singles.
"We played better today and we are seeing progress each game," said head coach Stephen Liebsch. "I thought we played five solid innings before making a few errors and leaving some players on base."
The Lancers return to action Thursday against Evangel University once again.
