Head coach Scott Blum begins his third season at Grace with
a wealth of experience as a player and coach. Blum, a former NAIA All-American
and NCCAA National Player of the Year, graduated from Grace in 1993 and
was a starting guard on the 1991–92 NAIA National Championship team.
In his first season at the helm of the women’s basketball
program, the team went 5–22 overall and 1–15 in the Mid-Central Conference.
The Lancers improved in his second season going 7–20 overall and 2–14
in the MCC.
Blum has held positions as the head men’s coach at Indiana
Wesleyan and Trinity International and also spent a season as the head
boys coach at Lakewood Park Christian School. He also spent two seasons
as an assistant coach for the Grace men’s basketball team.
In high school, Blum scored 1,576 career points at Oregon-Davis
and is the only player to ever have his number retired at the school.
He then played two seasons at Valparaiso before transferring to Grace
for his final two seasons, leading the program to a 59–11 record in those
years.
At Grace, Blum is also working as a professor in the physical
education department. He is married to Michelle and they have three children
—Tanner, Connor and Asher.
