Lancers Earn 1st Win of Season
CLEARWATER, Fla. (3/4/08) -Grace erupted for a 10-7 win over Evangel University Tuesday afternoon to give Josh Bailey his first victory as head coach of the Lancers. The second game of the day against Trinity International was postponed due to rain. Grace sent sophomore Joel Zakahi to the mound as Zakahi threw a complete game with 4 strikeouts.
The Lancer bats were hot with four player having two hits each led by junior Joel Herschberger who went 2-3 with a sacrifice fly, a run scored and 3 runs batted in. Junior Ryan Combs and freshman Chris Hammet both tripled on the day with Combs going 2-3 and Hammet going 2-4. Sophomore Chay Baley and senior Kory Vanderford would combined for three scored runs on the day.
Mondays recap saw Grace drop two games to Cedarville University and Northwestern College 9-1 and 13-4 respectively. Senior Hans Griepentrog was the losing pitcher against Cedarville with Zach Prairie scoring the only Lancer run. Freshman Michael Clark was the losing pitcher for the Lancers in the second game with Luke Harbaugh stealing two bases and knocking in two runs.
The Lancers return to action Thursday March 6th against Southeastern College and Cedarville University.
