Doctor of Missiology

The Doctor of Ministry degree is an advanced professional degree program designed for the continuing development of those involved in vocational ministry. This program is designed to enhance professional competence by expanding upon an initial foundation of theological studies and ministry experience, to enable those in vocational ministry to enhance current strengths, address areas of weakness, and increase overall effectiveness. Courses are taught in a week long modular format with requirements for both pre-course and post-course work.

Admissions Requirements

In order to be considered for enrollment in the Doctor of Ministry program at Grace Theological Seminary, you must fulfill certain admission requirements. Below is a list of the requirements.

  • An applicant must have obtained a Master of Divinity degree or its equivalent* from an approved institution as determined by the D.Min. Committee.

*In general, M.Div. equivalency includes: A bachelor’s degree in Bible, theology, or Christian ministry, training in one of the biblical languages, and 60 credit hours of graduate theological training.

  • A bachelor’s degree in something other than Bible, theology, or Christian ministry, Training in one of the biblical languages, and 78 credit hours of graduate theological training.
  • A minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4-point scale) in the applicant’s previous academic work is required. A limited number of students may be admitted under academic restriction by action of the D.Min. Committee, but they must maintain the grade point average required for candidacy (3.0) to continue in the program.
  • The applicant must currently be serving in a vocational ministry, having completed at least four years in full-time professional ministry since completing the M.Div. or its equivalent. Exceptions to this policy will be considered on a case-by-case basis by the D.Min. Committee.

Registration can take place up to and during the weekend of orientation. However, the Application Deadline is August 1 for the fall and December 15 for the spring semester.

    If you apply online, the $30 application fee is waived. Otherwise, if you use the paper application form, please send the application fee by check payable to Grace Schools.

  • Photos

    Send two recent photos of yourself through email to Seminary Admissions.

  • Testimony and Calling to Ministry

    Prospective students must provide a typewritten statement of approx. 2-4 pages, double spaced, to include details of your:

    • conversion to the Lord Jesus Christ
    • call to ministry
    • philosophy of ministry
    • assessment of personal strengths and weaknesses
    • objectives in pursuing a D.Min degree

  • Résumé or C.V.

    A résumé of all previous positions in Christian ministry is required.

  • References

    Obtain three personal references from people other than family members (i.e. immediate supervisor, colleagues, church leaders, etc.) by contacting them and emailing a link to the online form below. They will be required to enter your first name and last name on this form so please supply this information to them. Please use the same information that you provided on your application form.

  • Acceptance Process

    When all forms have been received and evaluated, you will be advised of the Admissions Committee's decision. The Admissions Committee may request that you submit additional materials and/or that you interview with a representative of the Seminary.

  • Deposit and Letter of Intent

    After receiving notice of acceptance, please send the $50 advanced tuition deposit. This payment must be made by July 1 for the Fall semester, December 1 for the Spring semester, or within 15 days of notification if admission is granted after these dates. See refund policy.

Financial Aid & Scholarships

Financial Aid Checklist

  • Apply and be accepted for admission to Grace College.
  • The FAFSA must be completed and mailed to the government as soon as possible after January 1st. Grace's Federal School Code is 001800. June 30th is the deadline.
  • File the FAFSA form online (preferred for Indiana residents).
  • Documents or clarifying information requested by Grace College’s Office of Student Financial Aid Services must be submitted within 30 days by the student and/or parent. Notify the Student Financial Aid Office if you will be receiving any outside sources of financial aid.
  • Upon receiving the Student Aid Notification letter from Grace College, the student must carefully follow all the instructions that are listed.
  • Male citizens of the U.S. and male immigrant aliens 18 through 25 years old must be registered with the U.S. Selective Service System to be eligible for federal student loans and grants. Men can register at any post office or register online.

Scholarships

  • Partners in Education Award

    • Grace Seminary provides a matching scholarship to students whose churches agree to assist them financially. The seminary will match the amount of the church's scholarship up to $500 per student per year. To be eligible, a student is required to be a half-time student in a two or three year program taking at least 6 or more credit hours per semester.
    • Beginning in the fall 2008 semester, this program was also made available for distance/online education and online students. The application deadline for the fall semester is August 1 and the Spring Deadline is December 15.

  • Kosciusko REMC

    The Kosciusko REMC has a scholarship opportunity for any REMC member or dependent. A total of 6 $1,000 scholarships will be given out--open to graduating seniors, current college students, and adults returning to college or pursuing graduate/post-graduate work.
