Grace College and Theological Seminary

What Students Say

"My first semester in the program has been amazing. I have learned so much about my self, about other people, and about God. The professors are not just teachers of counseling but they are teachers who live and walk with God. I have learned about what it is like to really see myself for who I am and then see God's amazing grace which helps me to then love people better."

"I am amazed at the thorough preparation I received in the Grace Counseling Program. I had a psychology background but needed a biblical foundation from which to work. With the help of genuine and competent professors, I have learned to examine my strengths and weaknesses, as well as developing counseling skills. I have received individualized supervision from professors that model, mentor, and motivate their students. I also had a diverse internship experience in the community. Above all else, I have appreciated the one-of-a kind program design that has helped me become a more self-aware, competent counselor, committed to seeing the love of Christ heal others."

"While some people burn out from teaching; after twelve years in the classroom I crashed and burned. Fortunately, I received counseling from a gifted therapist who also presented a message of hope in Christ as part of my recovery. When I decided to make counseling my next career, I looked for a program that would be both academically and spiritually challenging. My search ended when I found the Master's program at Grace. My two years in the program have changed my life. The professors and instructors are well versed in their fields and committed to the welfare of their students. The program also takes the extra effort to challenge students to search inside themselves and assess the "stuff" that may hinder their effectiveness as counselors. As I prepare to begin my career as an addictions counselor at a large mental health center, I am confident that the training I received at Grace College will enable me to meet the mental, emotional, and spiritual needs of my clients."

“Through the Grace College graduate program, I have not only developed necessary professional skills and competencies for counseling, but I also find myself responding to situations in my personal life with a greater depth of prayer and wisdom gained through powerful, Christ-centered teaching and mentoring. From the beginning of the program, the standard is set that you can only go as far with a client as you have been courageous enough to go yourself. My work with people now and in the future has been greatly enhanced by accepting the challenge of facing my own fears and weaknesses through the grace of God. It is this journey that develops true counselors.”

“The environment of the MA in counseling program is at Grace is remarkably conducive to growth, both personally and professionally. Being surrounded by caring professors who challenge and encourage each of us to be more of who we were made to be has been life-changing, not in only that they encourage this in us, but that they live what they believe and walk in the freedom to which they call others. I came to Grace with a dream to counsel but found that God had even bigger dreams for me than I did; these two years have only helped solidify and refine what He has called me to be. Most importantly for me has been the emphasis on prayer in counseling – whatever environment we are in, we can always pray for our clients, knowing that the work He has called us to is not work that we are built to complete on our own. This program has equipped me to sit well with clients and to continue to grow in my own walk with God.”
